Kiosk Setup & Management
The kiosk is the wall-mounted tablet where students and staff tap their NFC fobs to clock in and out. This guide covers setting up and managing the kiosk device.
Initial Setup
What You Need
The kiosk tablet (Geekland GKWF1039T or similar Android tablet)
Wi-Fi access at the school
Your computer signed into Branimi as an admin
Step-by-Step Setup
Power on the tablet and connect it to the school's Wi-Fi
Open Chrome on the tablet
On your computer, go to Settings → Kiosk in Branimi
Click Set Up New Device
A QR code appears on your screen along with a setup URL
On the tablet, either:
Scan the QR code with the tablet's camera, or
Type the setup URL directly into Chrome on the tablet
The tablet will configure itself and redirect to the kiosk screen
You should see the Elayne and Co. logo, current time, and "Tap your fob to clock in"
The setup link is valid for 15 minutes. If it expires, generate a new one.
What Students See

School name
Current time (updates every second)

When a student taps their fob to clock in, they see:
"Good morning/afternoon, [Name]!"
Hours progress bar (showing total hours vs. required)
Bookwork progress bar (if Canvas data exists)
Large, readable text
Clock-Out Screen
When a student taps their fob to clock out, they see:
"Goodbye, [Name]!"
Today's hours
Simplified display (no progress bars — just a clean goodbye)
Staff Clock-In/Out
Staff see their name and weekly/monthly hours (no certification tracking, since staff don't have hour requirements).
Error Screen
Unknown fob: "Fob not recognized. Please see an administrator."
Inactive person: Account is inactive message
Network error: Error message with auto-retry
The screen automatically returns to idle after a few seconds.
Revoking Kiosk Access
If you need to disconnect a tablet (e.g., it was stolen, or you're replacing it):
Go to Settings → Kiosk
Click Revoke Kiosk Access
The next time the tablet tries to record a punch, it will get an "Access Revoked" message
Tips for the Physical Setup
Mount at a comfortable height — Students and staff should be able to easily tap their fobs
Keep the tablet plugged in — Set it to always-on display so it doesn't sleep
Use Chrome's kiosk mode — This hides the address bar and navigation buttons so students can't accidentally leave the kiosk app
Ensure strong Wi-Fi — The kiosk needs a stable connection to record punches
