Using the Time Grid

The Time Grid gives you a week-by-week view of daily hours for every student in a class. It's useful for spotting patterns — who's showing up consistently, who's missing days, and whether hours look correct.

Getting to the Time Grid

  1. Click Classes in the sidebar

  2. Click on a class name (e.g., "February Night")

  3. The class detail page loads with the Time Grid

Reading the Time Grid

The Time Grid is a table where:

  • Rows = students in the class

  • Columns = days of the week (Mon through Sat, depending on the class schedule)

  • Cells = hours worked that day

Each cell shows the number of hours a student worked. Empty cells mean no hours were recorded for that day.

The class header shows:

  • Class name and schedule type (Full-Time Day, Part-Time Day, or Night)

  • Target end date with color coding:

    • Neutral = end date is more than 14 days away

    • Amber = end date is within 14 days

    • Red = end date has passed (class is overdue)

Week navigation — Use the arrow buttons to move forward and backward through weeks.

Clicking a Cell

Clicking any cell in the Time Grid opens the Punch Detail Modal, which shows the individual punches for that student on that day.

If the cell has hours:

  • Each punch is listed (IN at 9:02 AM, OUT at 12:01 PM, etc.)

  • Daily total is shown at the bottom

  • Source badge (Kiosk, Imported, Manual)

  • Edit Hours button — opens the daily hours edit form

  • Edit Punches button — opens the punch edit form

If the cell is empty:

  • Shows "No hours recorded"

  • Add Hours button to create an entry

If the cell has imported data (no individual punches):

  • Shows "No individual punch records available (imported from spreadsheet)"

  • Daily total still shown

  • Edit Hours button still works

Tips

  • Sticky columns — The student name column stays visible as you scroll right through the days.

  • Use the Time Grid to spot patterns — A student with gaps might be missing days. A student with unusually short days might be leaving early.

  • For punch-level editing, the Time Grid leads you to the detail modals, but for bulk editing, the Punch Log is usually faster.
